"SUNLIT MOON"

A new series about friendship, masculinity, existentialism and magic, aimed at teens and adults.

What's the story?

Librarian Percival Solaris has always felt a little... out of place in the world. From his unordinary appearance to his special interest in all things ancient magic, he's never quite fit in, even while living in the capital city.
See, the world he lives in has always denounced magic, to the point of most modern people believing it never existed in the first place. Percy on the other hand has spent the majority of his 22 years alive theorising and running tests to prove the opposite- he believes magic may have once been very real, and he's dedicated his life to proving it.
This works a little TOO well one day, when he manages to cast the first SPELL in a thousand years. His little sunlight spell doesn't do what he thought it would- rather than reflect the sunlight, it summons a gigantic structure which erupts from the ground right in front of Percy. This pointy structure is made of a mysterious glowing crystal-like material, and as it grows up into the sky, it casts a shockwave across the whole country of Luminea. This shockwave brings powerful, ancient magic back with it, and Percy soon finds this out when news stories over the radio exclaim that unexplained, supernatural happenings are taking place across the land. "Oddity Hotspots," as they've been named.Percival is understandably panicked, but even more so... confused. He can see the tip of the mysterious crystal spire poking out of the trees from his window at home- yet no one else seems to be commenting on it. Almost as if he is the only person who can see it...
Percy makes the very brave decision to set out on his own on an adventure of sorts. He's the only one who has any idea how magic works (and even then, he doesn't really know how it works either), and so it is his responsibility to study each of these magical anomalies and find a way to get them under control.

Along the way he, bumps into a runaway thief named Robin, who offers to lend Percy his apparent expertise in adventuring, and soon after they are joined by Tusk, a bounty hunter who specialises in tracking down criminals. Together this slightly awkward trio must learn to communicate effectively with each other and work as a team. Various threats loom on the horizon just out of sight, and many mysteries are yet to be solved...

What else should I know?

Representation is really important to me, since I'm writing this story from my perspective and experience as an LGBT neurodivergent person. Both Robin and Percy are AuDHD (autistic and ADHD), all three characters are LGBT, and the show features representations of mental health struggles directly inspired by my own personal experiences of them. Percy struggles a lot with anxiety and existentialism as well as depression. Robin has PTSD and anxiety, and a large part of Tusk's character development centres around his repressed emotions and inability to come to terms with or allow himself to fully feel grief after losing a loved one.(I promise the show isn't too depressing- it's a mostly light-hearted and fun adventure!)Visually, Sunlit Moon is a love letter to some of my personal favourite media such as Hilda, Wolfwalkers, Gravity Falls, and Lord of the Rings.I really hope you like it :o)
